A short animated film made in under 48 hours.

Concept

“Swing” is a short film I created over the course of a single weekend—an animation challenge I gave myself to see how far I could push a story in under 48 hours.

I handled all aspects of the project: storyboarding, character design, rigging, animation, and compositing. The music was beautifully scored by Hadas Rosen.

Concept Art

I explored the childlike wonder and fear that comes with playing on a swingset. The film became a metaphor for personal growth—pushing past fear, letting go, and reaching for something impossible.

Rigging

With limited time, I built a custom rig in Toon Boom Harmony. The goal was to preserve the sketchy charm of the original drawings while making the animation process faster. Using textured mattes, I gave the character a hand-drawn look that feels like she stepped straight out of a sketchbook.

Layout

To contrast the loose, sketchy look of the character, I opted for photorealistic backgrounds. Using collage techniques, I created dreamlike, surreal settings that reflect the emotional stakes of the story.

Storyboard

I used Storyboard Pro to quickly rough out the timing and pacing of the film. Here's a look at the original animatic:
